I have Eliza Cope born 1866 Dublin, Ireland and I am trying to find some information on her. I have her birth certificate, but have been unable to find a marriage, Death or on any census.

Can anyone, who has the time, please see if they can find anything, which might help in finding out what happened to her. Her family were Church or Ireland, but I know one of her brothers married a Roman Catholic girl. They all stayed around the Dublin area, apart from two who moved to England. I have loads of info on her siblings, but nothing but her birth.

What are her parents' names, please, Wendy?

Won't make any difference if you know their names Kite as they both died before the 1901 census. They are John and Maria.

Assuming her mother is the Maria (senior) who you mentioned in this thread, Eliza should still be alive in 1911 as Maria says 6 children, 6 living.

There is an E C age 35 in the Stewart Institution in Dublin on the 1901 census:
1901 Palmerstown Lower, Palmerston, Dublin
page 3 entry no 65 E C Protestant Episcopn, Cannot r or w, age 35, F, no occupation, not married, born Dublin, Congenl Imbecile.

(There are other female E C's of about the right age but the rest are Catholic.)

I can't see her on the 1911 census though. (The date of the census was 2nd April 1911, just so we have it for reference.)

There is an Elizabeth Cope death registration Apr-Jun 1911 Dublin South, age 45. There is an Elizabeth Cope in Dublin on the 1911 census but she is 49. (Married, so obviously not your Eliza, just trying to find someone else who the death reg could be for.) Also an Elizabeth Cope death reg Oct-Dec 1919 Dublin North, age 57. I'm thinking this 1919 one is more likely to be the Elizabeth who was 49 on the 1911 census.

I've done an advanced search of the 1901 Irish Census on women named Eliza, b c1866 in Dublin and C of I. There were 16 hits, but none of them jump out as being the correct Eliza.

Thanks for the info Kite. No way to find out if she's mine though.

If you order the 1911 Elizabeth Cope death certificate, it might have her father's name to confirm it's her - spinsters' death certs sometimes do. Or it might have info that can rule her out, such as her being married / widowed.

Can't afford to buy certificates if I'm not 100% sure they are mine!!!

We haven't had to pay a look up fee for Irish certs where the information didn't match what we were looking for (if that death isn't her it's more than likely to belong to a married or widowed woman, for instance).

At least Irish certs are a whole lot cheaper than England/Wales ones!
