The witness signature seems less fluid and the cross bars on the 't' of Carpenter are different.

Thanks Shona

I wasn't sure but I would so like them to be the same person, sighs wistfully....

I'd be inclined to say yes. There's what, 12 years between the two events. Your wedding is important and you are nervous. the witness signature looks more practiced.

I have examples of my mother's handwriting throughout her life and it varies hugely from girlish to mature to spidery.

I think it's the same hand too - similar enough for me

:):):) Well, thank you all very much!

From the Daniel Carpenter marriage I can link him back to who I believe to be his and Esther Carpenter 's (the bride in the other marriage) parents.

It also confirms another Huguenot link. :)

Sue, once I found one Huguenot line, I found almost all of the ancestors from that great x 2 grandmother were or were likely to be:)

I don't know but I wouldn't have thought there were *that* many Daniel and Esther Carpenters about?

No, there's not many at all. In fact the only ones I could find were baptised as Charpentier at Threadneedle Street but others of the family were baptised as Carpentier and then it's not a huge leap to full anglicisation. I'm now wondering if Sharp could be an anglicised French name or maybe Piercy ...:D
