James Pinchin, that is.

James was born about 1786 in North Newnton Wiltshire, father James and mother Ann(e).

I have found James on the 1851 and 1861 but can't find him on the 1841.

1851 Class: HO107; Piece: 1839; Folio: 20; Page: 15;

1861 RG 9; Piece: 1290; Folio: 12; Page: 2

James has 2 daughters that I have found. He is with one on the above censuses. His wife was Betty but beyond that James says he was a widow in 1851 I have no more details on her.

Toni, I think this might be Betty Pinchin in 1841.

She is recorded as a 55-year-old pauper in the Pewsey Union workhouse.

So perhaps James is also in the workhouse?

So we don't have to keep looking up that 1851 entry, this is what it says:
Stanton St Bernard, Wiltshire
James Pinchin Head Widr 66 Farm Labourer (Carter) Wiltshire Hilcot
Ann Do Daur U 32 do do do Stanton
Elizabeth Do Grandaur U 12 do do
James Do Grandson U 9 Ploughboy do do

I've just replied on Phoenix's thread about Stanton St Bernard in 1841. This might be why you can't find him

Looks as though they may be missing from the 1841 census:

Well he wasn't in the workhouse, there were only 3 pages of that. I've checked 2 of the 3 lots for Pewsey, in case he was near his wife. I'll finish the last one but it looks as though Jackie and Kate have found why I can't find him.

Thanks for the help.
