Eliabeth appears to be the daughter of Robert Chapman and Elizabeth Hudson, baptised some time between 1757 and 1765 in Kelling, Edgefield or any of the parishes in between.

(Robert & Elizabeth married in Kelling in 1757 and were in Edgefield by 1764. I have established they had daughters Mary b c 1762 and Rose b c 1768)

Elizabeth died before 1856 and probably between 1841 (when she is with her husband in Edgefield) and 1851. There are unfortunately several candidates for Elizabeth's death in the Erpingham RD and I shall probably wait to visit Norfolk RO to see the original registers. Not sure I have the stamina for the BTs for 10 years.

Have had a look at the BTs and am deeply disappointed. Not only are they not submitted every year, but the rector doesn't fill in the gaps.

Wouldn't the Archdeacon's Transcripts fill in the gaps, Phoenix?

ATs run up to 1812. Thereafter the BTs take over. And although I have the greatest of respect for the Marcons as rectors, their record keeping leaves a lot to be desired. (Though one of them whipped the 1861 census and used it as a visiting list, annotating it with useful comments!)

The frustrating thing is that I have looked at the registers many, many times, but it took the better part of thirty years to discover the name of Edmund Skillings' natural father and so a whole new branch of the tree.
