This couple marry in 1907 in Shere, Surrey.

He was born in Albury c 1884, she was born 1878 in Shere. He was a wheelwright, of Portsea.

Both mothers were Hookers before they married, so they are probably related.

Do you think I can finnd either of them in 1911?

Help, please!

There's a possible death for Hannah Jul-Sep 1951 in Droxford district, Hannah J Cooper age 72. But of course it's a very common name.
Not found them in 1911 yet!
(Ah, I was posting at the same time as Elizabeth - her info looks useful!)

Thank you, Elizabeth! That certainly looks like them.

And yes, Kite I am not impressed by the really common names most of my family possess.

On the passenger list for the Carmania showing their arrival at New York 23 Mar 1914, his occupation is automobile mechanic and it gives her full middle name, Jane. Their last permanent residence is given as New Haven, USA. And it gives their relatives in England as wife's parents George Bryan, Shere, Guilford, Surrey.

So it looks as though they had already emigrated and this was them returning to the USA from a trip back to England. Maybe their original emigration was before the 1911 census. I haven't managed to find them on an earlier passenger list yet, or on the US censuses. Might have to look later or tomorrow.
