My Betty and Edward's eldest son was named Michael and their second daughter was Esther, so I am pretty sure this must be Betty's baptism:

Betty Southworth christened 1 Apr 1758 Darwen Chapel, Lancashire (St Mary the Virgin, Blackburn), parents Michael and Esther. Abode is Over Darwen.

Last night I was forced to sit through The Desolation of Smaug, so looked at your Houghton's instead. After a couple of hours I thought to look to see if you had a thread for Edward () and can confirm I agree with this statement from Edward's thread:

So, it looks more likely that my Richard's parents are the other Edward and Betty, and they could be Edmund Hoghton and Betty Southworth who got married in 1779. This Edward could be the one buried 1829 age 72 and there are a few possibles for Betty's burial.

My favourite for Betty is this one:

Burial: 24 Jul 1827 St Mary the Virgin, Blackburn, Lancashire, England
Betty Houghton -
Age: 73 years
Abode: Pickup-bank
Buried by: S. J. Allen
Register: Burials 1827 - 1832, Page 5, Entry 33
