I found a marriage of John Ware to Mary Hill on 12 May 1690 at Sarratt, in Hertfordshire. I am wondering, now the Herts records are on FMP, whether there may be additional information on this record and whether there are baptismal records for any of their children, in particular I am looking for John who married in 1720. Thank you. Julie

The marriage is here though

You can buy it....I'm not sure if it's a licence. I've never used that site.

Did your John die 1735 Chesham?

Lib I looked at LostCousins Feb Newsletter post and I went into FMP and I found a baptism for John 1696 at Sarratt. I needed credits to look at it which I didn't have, but I think he could be mine. When I get my internet back to speed I going to subscribe. I would have thought you should have been able to find it after I read what Kate said about FMP and Herts records.

Lib this John I think born c 1696 died 1770 (will), his son John b 1726 died 1767.
Most of my Wares born and buried Chesham in Bucks. except John 1726 baptised Berkhamstead, Herts ..
It is possible that the John Ware who married Mary Hill could have died in Chesham 1735

Julie, the Sarratt marriages aren't that early, unfortunately.

Liza I think the banns are 1755, but the registers are 1562. Not sure if they would have any further information, I think it depended a lot on the minister.

Lib/Liza if you have FMP do you have to pay credits to look at entries?
If you don't have to paycan you see who the parents are for the baptism of John in 1696?
Are there siblings?

Is Sarratt very close to Berkhamstead/Chesham?

About 5 miles from Chesham and a couple more from Berkhamsted.

Julie...did you work out if the marriage was a licence one by that link I posted in my first reply? I'm not sure what it costs to buy.

That's not very far .. especially if you had a horse, which most blacksmiths probably did. I found a tree on IGI which gave John who died in 1770 as being born Abt 1697. So the baptism 1696 at Sarratt is a possibility. I was looking at Ware marriages around that time and in the area. Another possibility is Richard Ware who married Mary Gossome 5/12/1687 at Chesham. Richard was the eldest grandson's name.. You never know one day something might tie it all together. Like a pedigree from the 1700s ...

I couldn't open it Lib because of my slow connection .. hopefully I will get back to normal speed next week or there is something wrong with the computer...

Hi Julie, the parents are John and Marie.
It was a double baptism - Marie was his twin!
(Not very inventive on the names :D)

There's a Susanna.
23 Feb 1691 - same parents.

That is really interesting .. because John's (the twin) will, names his daughters, which include Mary baptised 1729 and Maria baptised 1734 ... so very strange .. maybe Mary after his mother and Maria after his twin ..

Good - found the marriage under Johannes! It didn' turn up as a variation.

Johannes Ware married Maria Hill on 12th May 1690 at Sarratt.

Julie, OH's ancestor Benjamin Tuffnell had a brother William who was the gardener for the vicar at Sarratt! It is a lovely church - I've got some photos somewhere so I'll look for you.

Susanna Ware married Joseph Baly 25 June 1712 at Sarratt (the Church of the Holy Cross is its name).

3 Dec 1721 at Sarratt

I'm trying to connect this John Ware (1696) to the marriage in 1720 at Chesham to Elizabeth Waterton. I suppose to disprove it would be to find a marriage at Sarratt?
John and Elizabeth's children are Sarah, Elizabeth, John, Mary, Maria and Susannah.

I can't find any more marriages at Sarratt, Julie, Just a Catherine in 1695. She married Henry Butterfield.

There are no marriages for a John Ware coming up for the relevant period in Hertfordshire, so the Sarratt one either died, didn't marry or went to another county to marry. (On the big assumption the records are complete).

The names he gave his children look promising.

Thanks Liza .. yes does look very promising .. so very chuffed .. Many thanks.
I'll be in touch with Glen, she looked at lots of Bucks wills of the Wares (there were a lot to wade through) and she might remember something that might shed a light .. ..
Many thanks Liza, Libby and Kate .. so very pleased ..
