I'm not particularly knowledgeable, but I have several photos of my grandfather's sister looking virtually identical! Exact same hairstyle, same elaborate blouse with a very high, tight neckline, full sleeves with a tight cuff and slight puff to the shoulders and a fairly straight long dark skirt without any ornamentation.

My great aunt was born in 1886 - the only hitch is I don't know her exact age in the photos, but I do have a head and shoulders dated photo of her from 1905 where she looks similar facially, and her hair is still quite full but there is definitley a centre parting and her blouse is similar but only has a round neck. If anything I'd say she looks a little younger in the 1905 photo, so the ones like yours might have been taken 1905-10.

Your lady looks lovely and her baby looks a bt mischievous (and very like mum)! Do you know who they are? Are those boxes like a russian doll - to fit one inside the other?

I dont actually have a clue who it is. if its who i want it to be (lol! ) it needed to be early 1930's but i think I already knew it wasn;t

Ok, so it was in a box at Dads. I Hoped it was dad, but that said, Given that he was the last of nine I doubt there was money for things like pro photo's. Likeness leads me to think It might be the first born, Winnie. She was borm 1911.

That would be just my luck! never did like her very much- spinster that smelled of mothballs!

lol - well mum looks no more than 22/3ish at the most, so as you say, probably first born. No photographers details?

nope, nothing

Granny was born 1888, (if it is winnie, and she's about18 months in the pic)

So, 1912ish and mum aged about 24. Seems very possible.

It's a lovely photo, Jess.

I find this website helpful when dating photographs. The link here shows similar hairstyles and high-necked blouses.

I have a photo of OH's grandmother in 1912 with OH's baby uncle. Her hairstyle and blouse are almost identical to those in your photo.
