Memorial inscription
In the vault beneath are deposited the remains of
Susannah, the wife of Mr. Thomas Rose of this parish,
who died the 15th of Novr, 1778, aged 35 years.

I now know that Susanna's father was Thomas Baily of Quainton. I have just received his will and he make Susanna's husband Thomas Rose his executor.

Isn't it great, Merry? It's not too far from us and I have lots of photos of the memorial.

Finally! After rather a slow start chasing the Baily family around the county, I found that, despite saying they lived at Quainton, the later parish record entries are at Middle Claydon, the next parish.

I found the baptisms for Susanna and some of her siblings, but the eldest ones must have been baptised somewhere else.
