William is on my Fife pre-1855 CD. Have noticed lots of child deaths for Porters in Lang/Long Dykes. Do you want that info? Can't find Barbara, though.

Langdyke is split between Kettle parish and Kennoway parish. I noticed the deaths of the Porter children on the CD had Langdyke, Kettle and Langdyke, Kennoway.

Thank you very much Shona - I think they must all belong to me. I've searched for Barbara without success under Porter and Stewart. It's unlikely she married if she survived William :-)

I think I've found her!

Baby Stewart, died Kettle, 29 March 1799, age n/k, cause: nervous complaint.

Baby is often used for Barbara.

What do you reckon?

Shona thank you! I don't think I've seen that one - I didn't know about Baby only Barbary.

Happy to give the Fife CD a spin. I've seen Baby used for Barbara quite a lot, so I do think it's the right one.

Btw - also noticed a Thomas Stewart, blacksmith and fuear, died Kettle, aged 72 on 19 May 1826. Husband of Margaret Hogg (died 1816) - from a monumental inscription. Not Barbara's parents, but as William was a blacksmith and the couple named two children Thomas, it may indicate that Thomas was related in some way - Barbara's brother?

Shona I didn't know who James was and he's baptised at Kennoway 1786 son of William Porter and Baby Stewart :-)

Are these death or burial dates?

Must be - Barbara's brother Thomas was born 3 Jan 1754 Kettle :-) thank you.

The date is a burial date and the source is the Kettle OPR Lair Register, South Division.

Checking the list I posted earlier, they are all burials, except for the unnamed one in 1835, which is a death.

Checked again - this is also a burial.

Perhaps some of this could be copied on to Barbara's thread - she looking a wee bit lonesome with no replies.

I'm on my iPhone at the moment but I will tidy them up later :-)

Thank you again, Shona - I've been spending the afternoon getting nothing else done but fleshing out the Porter and Stewart families.
