I know practically nothing about them other than that Pallots gives a marriage of 1791 Christ Church Greyfriars, Newgate Street, London (records haven't survived) and they had a son George baptised 20th Jul 1794 St Saviour Southwark. I can't find baptisms for any other children, although there was *probably* an Alice, Elizabeth and Sarah.

There is a George who appears in the Land Tax Records for London for the 1780s in Clerkenwell but there is another chap of the same name in London so it could be him.

Having written that, I've just found two daughters Elizabeth and Maria baptised Nov 1798 St Saviour which gives father's occupation as a hatter.

There is a George Bathiea buried 29 Sep 1799 at St John the Baptist, Clerkenwell, age 59, abode Eagle Court. He could be the "other" George?

Thanks Kite - The Hammersmith George married Janet Lindsay I think and not closely connected. I don't know who the other one is - of an age to be my George's father and Clerkenwell and Newgate aren't a million miles apart.

I've been following Elizabeth, the daughter whose baptism I've found today and I can find a connection with a son of hers and a son of someone I think is another sister so I'm making progress.

Very excited:-) The Alice who I think might be a daughter of George and Mary has a 75 year old Mary Leach in the household in 1841 and I've found a marriage 1802 Whitechapel for a Mary Baithe widow to James Leach widower. So the George buried at Clerkenwell could well be mine

I think I can say with some confidence but a lack of evidence that Mary was born c1766 in Surrey/ London - 1841 - Piece 1084 St George The Martyr Folio 7 Page 8 and that she had five children by George -

Alice bc1792 Southwark (no baptism yet)
George b & bapt 1794 St George the Martyr
Maria b1796 bapt 1798 St Saviour
Elizabeth b & bapt 1798 St Saviour
Sarah c1800 Southwark

George must have died c1798-1802 and she married James Leach 1802 Whitechapel. There are two possible burials on Ancestry for Mary - 26 May 1842 at St Peter Walworth (aged 74 and of Westmoreland Row) and 27 Sep 1849 St Mary Magdalene Bermondsey (aged 86 and of the Workhouse) . A death cert might help but I can't find anything on James Leach yet to narrow things down.
