Hi, would anyone know if there are any methodist records online at all for Barnsley for the late 1800s - early 1900s? A brother of my great x 2 grandfather looks to have converted to Methodist when he married his second wife which would explain why I didnt find any baptisms of their children when I looked through the parish records for their parish at the archives.

Many thanks in advance.

You could contact Barnsley Archives and ask whether they hold the records, but apparently they are closed until early summer next year :(. I can't work out how to find out from their website whether they have Methodist records.

I will try and contact them when they decide to re-open. I got lucky with the baptisms of the children to the first marriage that were CofE as they were in a church that the Sheffield Archives happened to have copies of :)

Looks like they've been working on it.

Many thanks Janet. I think the ones I am looking for are at a Methodist church in Nether Hoyland so hopefully they will be working on that one soon :)

It's possible that the records have been deposited with the Records Office but not yet catalogued or indexed.
