Parents, birthplace & year unknown.

Marriage to Elizabeth unknown sometime before their children's baptisms. There's a possible marriage to an Elizabeth Stocker, St Clement Danes, Strand, 06 Nov 1823.

John is on his children's baptisms:

St. Giles in the Fields, London
June 6, 1831, Elizabeth Alice Goodwin, daur of John Goodwin, wine waiter & Elizabeth, of 8 Monmouth Street. p 192, entry 2290

Henry Goodwin
St. Peter's, Saffron Hill, London
A late christening as Henry was 10. His father's occupation was listed as waiter. Family address given as 12 Saffron Street.

Eliza Jane Goodwin
born 19 Dec 1836, bapt 28 Dec 1838 Age: 2
St. Andrew, Holborn, London, address Saffron Street, father's occupation waiter.

Thomas Goodwin
29 Mar 1841
St. Peter's, Saffron Hill, London
Thomas, son of John & Elizabeth Goodwin. Father's occupation: waiter. Born 10 Nov 1840. Address 12 Saffron Street.

I can't find the family in 1841 and in 1851, Elizabeth is working as a shoemaker at 12 Saffron Street with her son Thomas. She says she is married but no trace of John.

Oops!

29 Nov 1841, which was later the same year as his younger brother Thomas.

The 1841 census has Thomas and Henry about the right age, but it doesn't give the connection with Emily of course, there are more Goodwins and I can't help thinking Elizabeth wouldn't leave her one year old, unless of course she and John have been beamed up to Mars.

If Thomas was born 10 Nov 1840 then he was only six months old on census night, not even 1.

You're right, KiteRunner, but I still can't find him!
