Obituary from the Campbeltown Courier:

Another of the oldest residents of the district has passed away in the person of Duncan McIsaac, who has just died at Glenbarr village, aged 82 years. The deceased who has been in poor health for about 18 months and most of that time bedridden, died on 7th inst. For a good many years, he has suffered from the disability of blindness, finally total blindness. But by the aid of a stick, he could find his way about, wonderfully correctly along acquaint roads for a considerable distance, and was always pleased when anyone meeting him stopped to speak to him.

The loss of a devoted son, Pte Alexander McIsaac, early in the war was to the deceased especially a sore stroke, as it was to other members of the family, and later the loss of his step-son James McLean, missing. In the course of conversation at the time of his son's death, he once asked: 'When will the war be finished?' The questioned could not be answered, but he sorrowfully remarked: 'The war is done for me anyway.'

Mr McIsaac who was, in his able days, a man of cheery and hearty nature, spent all of his life in the parish, except for a few years in America, and was for the most part employed in agricultural work.

Having been twice married, he is survived by his wife, four sons, who were present at his funeral, and daughters, whom friends join in mourning his loss.

At the funeral, which took place on the 10th inst. to Killean burying ground, Revs Messrs McDonald and Stuart conducted the funeral.
