I think I might have found what I'm looking for:

http://www.lincstothepast.com/Records/RecordDisplayTranscript.aspx?oid=554574&iid=202011

It's under burials, about the 7th entry down.
The surname is visible - Toyne. Also the word "yeoman" I think.
Could anyone confirm this, and the rest of the line?

This would tie up my research nicely.:)

Can't make much out at all.

25th or 28th

Presume October as the dates around it are October.

I can't make out the word/name before Toyne

Thanks, Marg. I think I know the Christian name, but won't reveal it yet.
I thought it was 25th but I couldn't make out the month.
The year is 1678.

Thanks for looking, Kate.

I think it is "John Toyne Yeoman" with an uncertain date, but the year is 1678.
He married Sarah Codd in 1675 and their son John was born in 1676. Sarah Codd/Toyne married George Gawthorpe in 1679.

His will and inventory are dated 1678.

I'd say it was definitely Oct 25th as the 26th & 27th follow.
The last letter is definitely 'n' & the first letter resembles the top part of the swirly 'J' for John further down the page plus the 2 words are roughly the same length.

Glen and Shona, many thanks. Another pair of eyes is always useful.
