My grandma, Mary Petch born 1914 was in service in Wembley during WW2. I don't know if she stayed after WW2 or even if she was there before the war, but she worked & lived in Nuneaton in the late 40's & married in her hometown in the North East in 1949.

I'd love to know where & the name of the family she was living with as we have quite alot of photos of them but no idea of their names.

I don't currently have access to Ancestry so would be grateful if someone could see if they could find her.

Thanks

In 1939 There's a Mary Petch living with a Herbert Stanley Petch at 23 Redhill Drive, Edgeware, Middlesex in the ward of Hyde Wembley.

Same in 1937.

In 1945 there's a Mary A Petch living at 28t Pickering St dwellings Islington with Alice A Cousins - looks like a house of multiple occupancy as it goes up to 28u.

Further down the street at No 17 is George H Petch and Katherine Petch.

Doesn't look like the one in 1939 is yours as she's own her own at the same address i Redhill Drive in 1951

Can't see anything else that looks likely. sorry

She's not the Mary Petch at 31 Redhill Drive Edgware. She has a husband and is still there in 1951.
But she might be the Mary Petch at 38 Wembley Park Drive in 1936 with William and Elsie Singleton. She's not shown with them in 1935 and I can't see the Singletons after 1936.

Thanks for looking Julie & UJ.

Wonder if that is my grandma with the Singleton's?

Off to dig out the photos again & see if I can find anything else.

What date was the ER information collected?

She was in Wembley from at least May 1936 as some of the photos i've just dug out are dated 9th, 11th & 13th May 1936. They look to be taken in the garden looking at the back of the house, I want the front of the house so I can look up on Google Streetview!
