I'm wondering if this is Lucy in 1851. Says she was born in Bulkington, Warwickshire. Family Search and Freereg have her and Joseph having a Samuel in 1829.

1851 (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=view&r=5538&dbid=8860&iid=LEIHO107_2082_2082-0270&fn=Samuel&ln=Smith&st=d&ssrc=&pid=9601348)

Same woman in 1861 has an Ann Smith visitor born Dublin with her and a grandaughter born at sea. I suppose this visitor could be her daughter in law.

Any thoughts please?

1861 (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=view&r=5538&dbid=8767&iid=LEIRG9_2259_2262-0575&fn=Lucy&ln=Smith&st=d&ssrc=&pid=21518346)

Looks like a good possibility. Love that she lived in Duck Paddle (or is it Puddle?).

If that is Lucy in 1851 and 1861 then where is she in 1841?

Son Samuel who is with her in 1851 appears to be on his own in 1841 or perhaps lodging with the Chanler family.

1841 Samuel Smith (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=view&r=5538&dbid=8978&iid=LEIHO107_601_602-0165&fn=Samuel&ln=Smith&st=r&ssrc=&pid=6450898)

The only Lucy Smith I can find in Leicestershire not born in county (she was born in Bulkington, Warwickshire) is this one in Leicester County Gaol. Age is out though to the others. Age 50 in 1841, 66 in 1851 and 79 in 1861.

1841 Lucy Smith (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=view&r=5538&dbid=8978&iid=LEIHO107_605_605-0194&fn=Lucy&ln=Smith&st=r&ssrc=&pid=6519991)

There are two Lucy Smith burials on the NBI3 at St Mary's, Hinckley

11 May 1856 aged 74

11 Dec 1866 aged 83

As I have her in 1861, it must be the second one.

Going to try and find the first one in 1851.

Edit: Yes there was another Lucy in 1851, wife of Thomas. She isn't on the 1861 so the first burial must be her.

But which one was in prison?

Not the one married to Thomas as she was born in Hinckley.
