View Full Version : Anybody find this marriage please
Have a James FALLON born abt 1826 Newington cannot find him in 1851
He marries in 1858 Southwark Surrey to a Julia Gibbons and says widower ? Greengrocer.
Can anybody find either a marriage for him between 1841 and 1858 or him in 1851 ? either with or without a wife thanks .
Is he the James Fallon that was christened 15 March 1829, son of James and Catherine?
There is a possible marriage September qr 1845 to a Margaret Conner in South Shields. They are in Durham in 1851 but he has a different occupation.
ooh mine had parents James and Mary , I haven't found his baptism thanks for looking Joy
You're welcome.
How do you know his Mum is Mary, Vallee?
To be honest Joy I suppose I dont ,its just thats the names in the 1841 census I hadn't thought maybe Mary wasn't his mother ? got me wondering now , and thanks for that marriage .

What happened to James and Julia after the 1858 marriage?
Are you sure that James was from London?
Just wondering -in 1861

His age is mistranscribed. There is a sister (in-law) with the surname Gibbons.
1871? http://search.ancestry.com/iexec?htx=view&r=5538&dbid=7619&iid=LNDRG10_616_618-0172&fn=James&ln=Fallon&st=r&ssrc=&pid=5371917
Maybe, maybe not, ages are odd.
I hadnt found that 1861 census so thanks for that it does seem to be him ? I know he went out to Iowa with Julia and family he is a worker at a saw mill ? in 1880 but dont know when he went .
So it looks like he was born in ireland then ? thanks very much.
oh the ages are way out aren't they even in the 1861 ? wonder if this is a different couple ? although its very coincidental
I think the James who married Julia Gibbons is the father of your James you have aged 15 in 1841. James senr being married to Mary at that time. They (James senr and Mary and then James senr and Julia) are at Kings St Newington in 1841, 51 and 1861. I think this is Mary's death:
Deaths Mar 1855
Fallon Mary Newington 1d 180
The family where the father was an attorney's clerk were in Chelsea in 1841 so I presume they are the wrong family and it's the Newington ones you are after?
I guess it's likely Mary Fallon who ded in 1855 is the mother of your James, but without a baptism for him we can't be sure.
To establish Mary's maiden name you could get the birth cert for one of her children. Matthew is aged 9 and 'son' in 1851:
Births Jun 1842
Fallon Matthew Newington 4 347
When Matthew marries Caroline Louisa Davies in 1869 he also says his father was a grocer. :D Perhaps grocer/greengrocer was James senr's occ before he came to England?
Erm, the James Fallon in Iowa in 1880 says he was born in Ireland!!
And the James born in Newington may have died:
Deaths Dec 1858
Fallon James Newington 1d 161
so are we on completey the wrong track?!!

FamilySearch has a marriage for Bridget Fallon 31 Oct 1899 at Keokuk, Lee, Iowa, to a William Morgan. Her age is given as 20 and her parents' names are James Fallon and Julia Summerly. (One of the children on that 1880 census is Bridget age 1.)
Thanks everyone for your input looks like I have been following the wrong James Fallon then? will send for that Cert thanks Merry
will send for that Cert thanks Merry
Which one? Surely you don't need any of the ones I've posted about?!
