William Oakey marries Charlotte Wilhelmina Lines 1833 St Peter Walworth, Surrey, by licence.

The witnesses are her brother Edward and W Hughes (presumably a relation of her mother whose maiden name was Hughes)

I can't find any children of the marriage being baptised.

Charlotte appears to be aged 29, Ind, in Lambeth in 1841 with Henry ?Harland? aged 12 ?carver?

In 1851, she is in Shoreditch, with John Hebard, appearing as his wife, with a son William Oakey aged 9 b Camberwell.

I can only find William Oakey senior in 1833 and William junior in 1851.

Can anyone spot either of then at any other date?

Given that this appears to be a respectable, middle class family, I assume William senior was thought to be still alive in 1851 as I cannot find a marriage between Charlotte and John Hebard.

Thank you, Elizabeth!

That entry is proof positive I have the right woman - despite Charlotte senior being named a grandmother (and unmarried!) - as Charlotte senior is Charlotte's mother.

Oh, brilliant! Now Pakey is not a variant I'd have looked for.

I've just found the burials of both little boys in Bunhill Fields.

And William senior's in 1840.

So whoever was William junior's father, it wasn't an Oakey.
