This is my husband's family so breathe deeply and take a couple of Aspirins. I think she was born in about 1853 in Bristol and I have found her in 1861 as an adopted child with another family. In 1872 she becomes the second wife of William Western and in 1873 she gives birth to my husband's grandfather Albert Western. I wonder if any one can find who her parents were without me getting the marriage certificate. The family stay in Bristol and I have them on all subsequent cenuses.

Could you show us where she is in 1861 please? I notice she was caled Mary Ann at marriage, so I wasn't sure what name to look for!

At least FS has let me in. The transcript of the marriage entry has her father as Alfred Camm.

Thanks Merry. You are further ahead than me. That is the right family in 1881. To complicate matters Albert marries an Alice and there is another Albert and Alice Western living close by who are cousins of the first pair. The three year old scholar is not as fanciful as it sounds as my husband's aunt could remember having to take the baby to school and look after it.
