There is a possible baptism on FamilySearch - Martha Collins baptised 6 Jun 1802 Manchester Cathedral, parents John and Margaret. My Martha didn't name any children John or Margaret as far as I know, but there may be some missing from my list as the first one I have is William baptised 25 Jul 1824 and that is 3 years after the parents' marriage.

Another possible one, which is in the new ancestry stuff, is Martha Collins baptised 12 Oct 1800 at Eccles , daughter of John Collins of Eccles, sadler, by Ann his wife.

But my Martha didn't name a child John or Ann as far as I know. I haven't found any children of William and Martha Crowther in between 1821 and 1824 either.

Other children of John and Ann Collins:
Mary 1 Jun 1794, Ann 19 Jun 1796, Elizabeth 8 Jul 1798, John 21 Feb 1803 (buried 12 Mar 1803), Joseph 8 Apr 1804 (buried 6 Feb 1805), William 23 Mar 1806 (poss marriage to Mary Heald 1828, then there is a likely William in Salford on the 1841 census with a son James 12), Harriet 3 Jan 1808 (poss marriage to James Rhind 1832, in 1841 in Glossop Derbyshire, in 1861 in Heaton Norris, birthplace Manchester) and Jane 1 Apr 1810 (buried 28 Apr 1810).

Tax paid 27 Mar 1783 on the apprenticeship of John Collins to Thomas Richardson of Heaton Norris, Lancashire, sadler.

Anne, wife of John Collins of Eccles buried 23 Jun 1827 Eccles St Mary, age 61.
John Collins buried 30 Jun 1841 Eccles St Mary, age 77, abode Chorlton upon Medlock. (On the 1841 census there is a John Collins in the Chorlton Union Workhouse, age 75, not born in county, no occupation stated.)

Marriage of John and Ann is 27 Jan 1792 Wilmslow, Cheshire - John Collins of Eccles, Lancashire married Ann Sutton of Wilmslow. The marriage bond gives John's occupation as sadler. Both 21 or over, bachelor and spinster, witnesses John Richardson and John Burgess.

There is another Martha Collins who married Thomas Buck 18 Dec 1826 at Eccles; I have found a likely couple on the censuses and Martha Buck is about the same age as my Martha but her birthplace is Altrincham Cheshire on some of the censuses so hopefully this means she isn't the daughter of John and Ann.

I still can't figure out whether that Martha baptised in Eccles in 1800 is the right one or not! Anyone have any ideas, please?

Had a look. Martha married in Eccles which makes the Eccles birth to John and Ann the most likely candidate. There are first names in common, too.

I ruled out the Martha who married Thomas Buck in Eccles in 1826 as being John and Ann's daughter because she was born in Altrincham and because the names of Martha Buck's children were different from the names of Ann and John's children.

Here are the births I found for Thomas and Martha:
