This man is nothing to do with a previous query for John Cook. (I have Cooks on both sides of the family).

I have Thomas married to Sarah but no date. I only have one child listed to date - John Cook b 4 Aug 1799 - and he married Elizabeth Harris on 6 Sept 1821 in Overbury, Worc. Elizabeth was b. abt 1800 in Overbury Worc and died in Overbury, Worc 12 Jul 1872. Subsequent family were from Overbury. I don't have John's date of death.

The 1851 census shows John and wife Elizabeth with 3 children and a grandson.

The 1861 census shows John as a Mason and his son Thomas also a Mason.
Johns parents are not mentioned on the census as living with him.

So John Cook was baptised at Ipsley, Worcs, 4 Aug 1799, parents Thomas and Sarah. (From FamilySearch). And on the 1851 census John's birthplace says Insley, which presumably should say Ipsley.
There is also a Joseph Cooke baptised 6 Jun 1802 at Ipsley with parents Thomas and Sarah, and a Deborah Cooke baptised 8 Jan 1804.

I probably have Ipsley in FTM 2010 Kate, but Roots Magic is not showing exact details. The place rings a bell.

Thanks for the other two children.

I guess we are looking at Ipsley for Thomas and Sarah. Wonder if these two places are near each other?

Yes, his birthplace is Ipsley on the 1861 census.

Oh ok - I haven't seen the 1861 census for Thomas - only John. Was there anything else of interest on it?

Sorry, I meant the 1861 census for John shows his birthplace as Ipsley. I haven't found Thomas on any census.

Hmmmmmm Thomas was probably deceased before that census. Could we find his marriage prior to 1799 Thomas Cook to Sarah, and perhaps his birth date?

There are a few possible marriages. Think I will need to look at a map of Worcestershire to see which places are near to Ipsley!

These are some possible marriages, from FamilySearch (not looked at the map yet):
Thomas Cook / Sarah Jelph 24 Sep 1790 Great Malvern
Thomas Cook / Sarah Harris 11 Jun 1792 Shrawley
Thomas Cook / Sarah Mitchel 12 Oct 1798 Beoley

Okay, looking at the map, Beoley is the only one of those that is near Ipsley, but they could just as easily have got married in Warwickshire.

Ah, I see you already have that marriage in the thread about Sarah.

Where was that Kate? I was sooo careful to do a search to make sure Thomas Cook hadn't been asked about before :(

Sorry Kate, I swear I did a search for "Sarah" and only this current thread came up.

As I said, I can't get into FTM at the moment, but will fix up as soon as I can.

Sorry to put you to the trouble.

I've caught up now, and have Sarah Mitchell married to Thomas Cook on 12 Oct 1798 in Beoley, Worc, tho no birth date and death date for either.

Kate - managed to get back in to FTM at long last :)

Yes, I am pleased, it was frustating getting information and not being able to check it. But I am entering stuff in now, so much so, that I am very tired tonight lol (think I need a break from it!)

My notebook died Kate, fortunately it has now been revived, so I now have FTM in 2 places. Looking forward to being able to hopefully contribute to the 4 xggt grandparents.
