View Full Version : Is there a methodical way.........?

I am trying to find out whether there is a connection between a family living in Sheffield in 1901 and 1911, and a family of the same surname living in Altrincham in the same years.

Is there a logical way to go about this?

I am surrounded by bits of paper, and seem to be going round in circles!

You need to look for a common ancestor to try and link the families together. Older census records may provide the answer that you seek.

Perhaps find the marriage between the head and wife of each family and then look for them before marriage i.e. 1891, 1881, 1871 etc to start with to see their parents and where they live.

And yet, there just might be a connection - there are some quite big co-incidences - but I've got to go out now :(
