Hello,

I hope someone can help me with the following family, lots of them seem to go missing in 1911. (I have put a * next to them if I have them in 1911)

William Wright, born c1850 in Thorpe Acre, Leicestershire
married to Theresa Jane (Davenport) born 1849 in Coleorton, Leicestershire

Children:
*Louisa Wright, born c1872 in Kilburn Park, Middlesex (married in St Anne on Sea, Lancashire in 1899)

William Davenport Wright, born 1873 in Coventry (married in St Anne on Sea, Lancashire in 1900 to Charlotte Louisa Dupuis, born c1875 in Switzerland)
- in 1901 they are living at Drayton Gardens, Ealing.
- in 1905 their son Clarence Dupuis Wright was christened, abode given as Drayton Gardens, Ealing.
- in 1950 on William's probate entry he is "Of 23 Drayton Gardens, Ealing"

*Francis John Wright, born 1876 in Coventry (married in 1899 to Emma Selina Phillips)
*Winifred Wright, born 1884 in Coleorton
-married in 1904 to John Percy Hartley where abode is given as DRAYTON GARDENS, Ealing

Theresa Jane Wright, born 1885 Coleorton, married AMJ 1911 to Walter Williams in St Anne on the Sea, Lancashire

*Arthur Wright, born 1890 in Coleorton. Soldier in Hampshire in 1911

So, I am a bit confused by the Ealing / St Anne on Sea.

In 1901, William Davenport Wright is in Ealing and his parents and siblings are at 40 North Promenade (Cottage) in St Anne on Sea.

Based on Theresa's marriage in 1911 I would expect most of them to be in St Anne on Sea, but not 100% sure.

Basically, I am trying to find these people in 1911
William (dad)
Theresa Jane (Snr, mum)
William Davenport Wright - with wife (Charlotte Louisa) and son (Clarence Dupuis)
Theresa Jane Wright Jnr - possibly with parents or with new husband?

Thanks for looking.

I've just done an address search on FMP and no 23 Drayton Gardens is missing. All other numbers seem to be there so maybe it's been missed.

Looking at the list, No 23 is uninhabited in 1911 - which might only mean that the family were on holiday.

Thanks, I suppose they could have been visiting Charlotte's family in Switzerland? Although I don't know whether she was Swiss originally as the 1901 census says BS but I have never found anything on her Father.

Having said that, I would have thought William Snr, Theresa Snr and Theresa Jnr would be here somewhere as Theresa married in AMJ 1911.

Have you looked to see when the first Saturday in April was?

I assume they could have married the day before the census and be on a steamer on the way to Paris by the Sunday night?

The 1911 marriage for Theresa Jane and Walter Williams is listed as page 1512 in the GRO indexes. The other couple on the same page have are John Fox and Alice M Haslam. They appear to be unmarried on census night (Alice Maude Haslam (transcribed as Hasham) 27 unm living in the parish of St James Westminster, Lancashire).

I've also looked at the couples listed on pages 1511 and 1513 and have found most of those people, all unmarried and all in the parish of St James Westminster, Lancashire. Their addresses are all St Annes On Sea though. So, I think on census night your couple were not yet married. ......................but I can't find either of them! lol

The 1911 Kelly's Directory for Ealing (on Historical Directories website) shows a Herbert W Mathews at 23 Drayton Gardens, West Ealing. William Wright is listed at number 21.

Sorry I haven't been back sooner, got caught up with other things.

Thank you ever so much Kate!

Thanks Merry and Phoenix - I guess I would need their marriage to find out if they married before or after. I know from LancsBMD where they married by the OPC only has that church until 1900.

Thanks again everyone.

I'm sure that must be Yverdon. It's on Lake Neuchâtel.

Thats the conclusion I came to Janet.

Plus the fact it is very close to France and both Charlotte and Maria are listed as being French.
