1901 census for Samuel Thomas and his wife Edith:

http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec/?htx=view&r=5538&dbid=7814&iid=SOMRG13_2355_2358-0543&fn=Samuel&ln=Thomas&st=d&ssrc=&pid=31595949

It's been scribbled all over and I can't read it at all.

It says he is a wooden box maker?

She is something Keeper lol! On the 1891 she is a dressmaker though ?

I think it might be Restaurant keeper as their servant is a Shop Assistant (Restaurant) and the words scribbled over it are Coffee Ho

Does seem a big change from a dressmaker though

This is a tree for a friend and apparently he went on to be a cinema owner!??!

Further down there's a "Refreshment House Keeper" and the writing looks very similar?

Yes Zoe I would go along with that! Restaurant keeper. I think it would have been the sort of thing a woman could have turned her hand to after dressmaking, no problem, let's face it most of us are qualified chefs anyway lol! :d

I don't understand, does using Ancestry au mean you only get the Australian records then? lol! I thought the whole point of Ancestry was to view the British ones??

Joan, the Autralian version gives you everything the English version does but for some reason you can't view the English site

The link for Ancestry UK will not work ~ we need the ref or additional info, or the link via the OZ site
