Fisher Betsy Romford 4a 565

the above Betsy is most likely the one. In 1911 her father shows with the right full name. He is a gas stoker

Merry thank you so much - my dad has just been in tears on the phone me telling him about his family. What do I need to do next to go back even further ? I assume find birth certificates for all ?

I've given you the references for the birth certs for Betsy and George. You need to get those to make sure you get the correct marriage certs for their parents. Until you get the marriage certs for their parents you can never be certain about the parents birth certs in case the bride was previously married and so is marrying in a name other than her maiden name (obviously there are loads of othe reasons why you should get marriage certs, but this is the most obvious one!!)

Do you have a paid sub to either Ancestry or Find My Past? if not, then you need one! lol

Hope your dad is OK - a lot of people find this journey emotional, especially at the start.

Your a star x thank you I wondered what the numbers where :)

So I buy the marriage cert first for each couple then all of their birth certificates ?

Merry

No, first buy the birth certs for Betsy and George (1905/6). Those certs wll give you the maiden names (and any other former names) of the two mothers. Hopefully, this information will lead you to the correct marriage certificates. ie don't get the marriage certs before you know the exact names that should be on them.

Once you have the parents marriage certs you wll then have their father's names and occupations to help trace the families on the censuses, sort out when and where they were born and then get the next set of birth certificates.

Does that make sense?
