Matthew Venn was born 22/7/1804, baptised 25/7/1804 at Kings Brompton, Somerset. Parents Robert and Elizabeth.

On the 1841 census Matthew Venn is married to Jane and has children Sophia, Charles, Mildred and Jane. He is a butcher, living in Middlesex but not of the county. HO107, Folio - 23, Page - 41, Piece Number - 682.

What I want to know is if the 2 Matthews are the same?

The second Matthew appears to have died by 1851. There are 2 Matthew's who die between 1841 and 1851, one in Somerset and one in St Pancras, there are no Matthew's born from 1837 but I can only find one on the 1841 census.

If anyone can help I'd appreciate it, also if someone could find the marriage of Matthew and Jane.

The one who died in St Pancras in 1847 is age 47 on his burial, according to FamilySearch. But of course this could be inaccurate and he could be born 1804.
Findmypast has the burial for the one who died in Bridgwater in 1844 and it gives his age as 35, so it's out by about the same amount as the St Pancras one is for an 1804 birth!

lol Kate, so that didn't solve anything.

Part of me feel the Bridgwater one is him, but I can't find him on the 1841. I've been playing with the new FMP but I'm finding it awkward.

I do like the other one though as the family seem easy to trace. I have marriages for the 3 girls. ;)

Do you know where Sophia was born, Kit? And Jane senior?

edit - FamilySearch has a baptism for a Sophia Venn 19 Apr 1829 at Arundel, Sussex, parents Matthew and Jane - is that the right one?

In which case their marriage is likely Matthew Venn / Jane Rogers 20 Nov 1826 Lyminster, Sussex (also from FamilySearch).

Yes Kate that is the right Sophia.

Thanks for the marriage, I couldn't get that to come up on familysearch. I wish they had the images, I need to know the witnesses or where he is from. But it is a start. :)

Lyminster has an Online Parish Clerk so maybe s/he could look it up for you?

Also there is someone who was researching this family 10 years ago who may be able to help you if she still has the same email address:
