Martha Hale married William Window in 1877. Gloucester BMD site

Martha was born in Painswick Gloucestershire in 1855.

1881 William and Martha are in Painswick with a 7 year old son Charles, possible Charles is from a previous marriage of William's?

RG11; Piece: 2542; Folio: 76; Page: 11

Where did they go after that?

I have found a death in Gloucester in 1919 that could be Martha. It's the right age.

Forget that death in 1919.

Just looked on the probate calendar and it's a spinster.

I wonder if they emigrated.

Re whether the child Charles is Wm's son by a prev marriage.......There's only one birth reg is Stroud district but there are two Charles Windows b in Stroud District on the 1881 census a year apart in age.

By accident, was looking for Martha's brother Alfred, I've found William Windows in 1901 living next door to Alfred and his family in Painswick. Right age and right occupation. 31 in 1881 and 51 in 1901. Quarryman in 1881 and Stone Breaker in 1901. He says he is single.

No sign of Martha.

Only one marriage in Gloucestershire for a William Window (s) between 1871 and 1881 and that's to Martha Hale.

William is single in 1871.

Charles doesn't seem to have been registered for birth as a Hale or a Window.

I've looked at Marthas and Charles' b Painswick in 1891 but can't tie anything together.

In 1891 he is married but lving with his mother and no wife.
