William Jones

I am looking for the Marriage Entry for William Jones, the lady he married was called Ellen maiden of Evans, marriage I am told took place in Newtown.

William is the Son of my very elusive Great grandfather Edward, I have found one possible entry but just wanted to make sure this is the right one.

Were you thinking she might have been called Ellen for Isabel? Doesn't seem very likely. Did your William have a middle name?

Oh, I guess I've found the wrong marriage as that one is far too early, I think. Maybe you could tell us the rest of the entry as I have to go and peel potatoes!

I was looking at that one Merry, Dec1919 pg 360 vol 11b, but as you have posted the name of that William's wife is called Isabel, the marriage I was looking for is for a William to an Ellen, my dad called her Ellen. as for a middle name for William I am not sure, but all of Edward's children all had middle names I think, well I know definitely 3 did, Marry Jane, Dorothy Alice, Edna May, not sure if there other sister Elizabeth did.

Zoe, can you give us the information that you have about William and Ellen, please? But without giving details of any living people. For instance, when was their first child born, when were William and Ellen born and when did they die?

William b.1899 died 1957 in Minffordd, Ironically a year after his father Edward,
Ellen b.1901 died 1971in minffordd, buried in the same cemeatary as Williams parents and other sister.

they have 5 children but I don't know if they are all still alive so I will send you a PM

I can't find deaths exactly matching either of those in Merioneth North which seems to be the registration district for Minffordd at those dates. Do you have the exact date of death for either or both of them?

Found a possible birth for the first of the children whose names you sent me, Oct-Dec 1918 in Llanfyllin district. Is that possible? In which case the marriage should be in or before that quarter.

Do they have any exact dates on the grave records/stone?

I have been to their grave only a few times, all I can remember is Williams born 1899 died 1957, he had Abergafren Farm after his father.

William 31st March 1957, Ellen 18th April 1971,

the child I gave you both with the year of birth 1928, was born in FFestiniog, (initials EWJ)

Thanks, Zoe. So William's death is probably the one registered Apr-Jun 1957 Merioneth North, age 57, no middle initial. But I haven't found Ellen's death registration yet to see if she had a middle name.
