I have a family of ARNFIELD's togeather in 1901 (RG13 4291 94 35)
Wright Arnfield 33 Mellor
Sarah E 26 Wimslow
John B 5 Comstall
Allan S 4 West Harlepool
Ella 2 West Hartlepool
In 1911 Sarah E seems to have moved with Allan to Stourbridge where she is with Joseph Harris (as his housekeeper) and has returned to using her maiden name of Birtles, she also appears to have had 3 more children described as illegitimate son/daughters of housekeeper(RG14P17480 RG78PN1069 RD373SD2ED1SN100)
I can't find Wright, John B or Ella on 1911 or any record of them after 1901 census.
Anybody have any ideas please ???

There is a civil marriage listed in Stockport Jul-Sep 1903 between Wright Arnfield and Mary A Birkin. I can't see a marriage listed between Wright and Sarah; do you know whether they were actually married?

Oh, the Wright Arnfield who married Mary Ann looks to be 20 years older than your Wright; back to the drawing board!

Sorry I don't have a marriage for Sarah & Wright.
I have Sarah with her parents in 1891 aged 16 single,(RG12 2804 53 13) and then in 1901 (RG13 4291 94 35)aged 26 married to Wright with 3 children (John B 1896, Allan S 1897, & Ella 1899)
It's Wright, John & Ella I cant find after the 1901 census.
Cant find any trace after that although I do have a birth certicate for Ella.
Any help would be gratefully accepted !!!
Been driving me mad for years this puzzle.

Thanks I'm still trying but with no luck.
Keep finding other branches and going off but keep coming back to Wright & Sarah every few months.

If Wright and Sarah E were married then this event should have perhaps come between the births of the first two children as John seems to be registered as Birtles and Allan as Arnfield! My guess is that they were not married.

I've not had any luck with finding the missing people in 1911 either.

If you try searching for Armfield rather than Arnfield on Ancestry, you will see there was a conviction at Derby Assises in 1891 for someone firstname Wright. Might not be yours though (hope not). Obviously that entry alone wouldn't impact on any census record.

Thanks Merry.
Where did you find a possible birth for John ???
Just had a quick check but must have missed it.

I thought this might be him:

Births Sep 1895
Birtles John Stockport 8a 7

Compstall was in Stockport district in 1895.

Took my first trip to NA at Kew on Saturday.
From my research there it seems that this could possibly be the same man as I've got in my husbands tree. At least his age matches. He also seems to have an alias. More research needed me thinks !!!
Waiting for copies of the relevent pages to turn up in the post now.
