The only information I had about him till now was as father from his son Thomas's marriage cert, and Thomas jr was born about 1813 at Fenni-fach, baptised at Brecon St John. Two other sons - David baptised 1817 and Morgan born and baptised 1821. Morgan jr was baptised at Plough Congregational Chapel in Brecon. Fenni-fach and Vennyvach are different spellings of the same placename.

I now have some information from the Welsh parish registers on findmypast so have updated the above post, but still need to fill in a lot! Any help gratefully received!

I was just having a look at marriages. I have no Welsh ancestry and I can't believe how many Morgan Morgans there are! I'm guessing it's almost impossible to help without some knowledge of the area?

Thanks, Asa. I didn't know anything about the area before I started researching this branch of my tree, and I still don't know much!

I've been looking for possible burials for Morgan and marriages for David and the younger Morgan but I've not got anywhere. I couldn't see marriages for sons with fathers named Morgan in Brecon and the possible burials seemed to apply to other people when I checked on census - sorry no use at all :-)

Thanks for trying, Asa. There are a few possible death registrations for Morgan sr but I don't fancy trying to pick the right one without a burial! I've had a look for a will but no luck.

The online GRO death index has a Morgan Morgans Apr-Jun 1845 Brecknock, age 69, and a Morgan Morgan Oct-Dec 1847 Brecknock age 74. The 1845 one probably isn't the one buried at Llanelli as there is a Morgan Morgan death in Crickhowell registration district Oct-Dec 1845 age 69. So I can't see a burial for either of the Brecknock district ones on FMP. May order the death certs (or one and then the other if necessary).

I've just received the 1845 death cert and it looks to be the wrong person as he is a farmer,so I will try ordering the 1847 one next.

The GRO sent me the death certificate of a woman called Lucy Brown who died in Stepney in 1851! I have reported "wrong certificate" and will await the right one.

Now received the correct death cert - Morgan Morgan, age 74, tailor, died at the Brecknock Union workhouse 30 Nov 1847, cause of death paralysis and old age. Informant Wm Parry of Brecknock Union workhouse. Will update original post.

There are two possible baptisms in Breconshire 1771-5 where the father is a tailor, both in Llywel parish: 10 May 1775 son of David and Gwenllian of Cwm-wysc (presumably Cwm Wysg) and 8 Jul 1775 son of John and Gwenllian of Porth y Rhyd in Trayanglaes. But the son of John and Gwenllian was buried 28 Mar 1778. So my Morgan could be the son of David and Gwenllian. Their other children baptised at Llywel were Mary 1776, Jane 1779, Anne 1781 and Thomas 1783.

Hello in amongst my father in laws belongs we have an original wedding certificate date 17th April 1866 Merthyr-Tydfil for
William Evans and Mary Morgans
fathers Benjamin Evans and Thomas Morgans

We have no idea why my father in law should have this document as he was Glyndwr Charles Rose and his mothers side Bevan

My husband states he knows the name but has no idea why, does this tie in with any of your Morgans?

Not connected with my family as far as I know, but Morgan(s) is an extremely common name.
