I've looked on FMP and can't find him, I tried all the variations I could think of :( I also looked on the 1911 under both surnames and couldn't find him on there either. Sorry :(

Thanks for looking Libby and Mandy.

His father John, along with another sister Sylvia who died before 1891, were the subject of several removal orders in the 1880s and John was eventually transferred to Leavesden Asylum. I'm guessing, as no one else can find Ernest either, that he must have been in an institution under an initial, possibly with place of birth unknown, in 1891.

Most of the family emigrated to New South Wales before 1911 and Ernest married there in 1913, although I haven't found his date of travel.

There are also Joseph (5), Alice (13) and Edith (9) Hadrill at West London District School, Ashford, Middlesex in 1891 along with Phyllis. Are these any relation?

Thanks Sue.

Joseph, Alice and Edith are Ernest and Phyllis' cousins. They were in and out of the workhouse like Jack in the Boxes poor things, and I'm currently checking whether it was their mother, Hannah, who was "said to be insane" on one of the registers. She is in an institution on every census from 1881 on and I've still to find their father Joseph after 1881.

I did try with just the initial E but nothing came up to match on FMP. This one will annoy me now, I hate not being able to find something :d

I've had a quick look on the passenger lists for both Hadrill and Bowyer but can't find anything that matches his DOB or Australia as the destination.

I tried the census returns on The Genealogist as well....with several combinations.

Anything I can look for in NSW??????????

Mandy, thank you for looking for me.

Libby, thank you for looking too and for the NSW offer. (I could have sworn you lived in a different state )
This is the first time I've tried to research people in Australia post 1900. Am I right in thinking that in NSW, after historical BMD indexes, the next online information is the electoral rolls?

Ernest Leopold Hadrill married Maude M Hazell 1913 in Rockdale.
Florence Mary Hadrill married Charles Staples 1908 in Waverley.
Phillis Gertrude Hadrill married Andrew B J Nisbit 1912 Rockdale.

I can identify Ernest on electoral rolls, and Florence's son Jack Leslie Charles, although Phillis/Phyllis seems to disappear after her marriage. I think I should probably sign up for a 14 day free trial of ancestry.au next.
