View Full Version : ancestry offer
have been trying to take advantage of the free offer this weekend to search the 1911 census, does anyone know if it's only part available as i am trying to locate some of my lot in 1911 and everyone seems to have been beamed back up to the mother ship, not a soul in sight, am getting a bit worried now, do i really exist?

The first lot are in Everton, Lancashire, with Squire calling himself Robert:
http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=1911England&indiv=try&h=23823546
Well, that's Squire/ Robert, Maria, Ben and Emma, plus a Margaret - is that Maria jr with the wrong name? Anyway, it says 7 children still living, 3 deceased, so the rest of the children must have left home or been away for the night.
and not forgetting the big one, my grandparents who don't exist
robert girling
mary jones

And we have already spent forever looking for these before too (haven't looked for the thread yet but I remember it well!)

There are several old threads, but this is the longest!

And this looks to be William Walsh also in Everton:

No, you're right to try looking on the 1911 again now because ancestry now have a full index which they didn't before. I've got to lay the table for dinner now but will do some more hunting later.
many thanks, we live in hope

It's not a probem, but people need to know it's probably not just a case of quick look up!
Something might possibly turn up on Ancestry that doesn't show so easily on the other 1911 sites we were using before.

I can't find Martin and / or Mary Walsh or Welsh in 1911. I wonder if they could have died before then? And no luck with the Girlings, I'm afraid, though not a big surprise.

Going back to the Joneses, in 1901 they have 9 children and in 1911 they say they had 10 altogether but 3 died, so 2 must have died between 1901 and 1911. There is a likely death for Aaron who was 7 on the 1901 census - Aaron Jones age 9, Jul-Sep 1902 Prescot district.
