Flora Horn eluded me for a little while: her marriage is under the surname Hornden in Fareham in 1875. She was born in Britford RD, Wilts in 1857

Her eldest surviving son, Henry Meads was born in Portsmouth c 1880, according to the 1881 census. (Mar 1880, Portsmouth RD)

Flora married James Meads and sometimes she is Flora, sometimes Florence on the censuses.

In 1911, her younger son fills out the census form.

Birthplace: Portsmouth [Wiltshire!]
Children of the marriage: 1 [what about elder brother Henry, living a couple of doors away?!!]
Number of years married: 21 [Er, 36, actually. That rare thing, a Horn girl who actually got married]

How are we supposed to find people when they don't care about the facts?!

I have to say that I am more surprised when mine appear to tell the absolute truth.

At least they aren't under a completely false name like my 2xg-uncle and his wife.

Every marriage certificate I have personal knowledge of has lies & errors on it, so I shouldn't be surprised.

But you clearly found them, despite their best efforts!

Only because they had relatives living with them who were using their real names!
