I have found my gggg grandma, Bridget Westoby(Westaby) on trees on Mundia and consequently her baptism in East Halton Lincs in 1765, thanks to Freereg. One of the trees has the family going back another couple of generations, listing marriages but not baptisms.
Bridget's parents are shown as Thomas Westoby c1732 & Elenor/Ellen West c1735 married 4/5/1759 Thornton Curtis and I have found the baptisms of all but one of her siblings also in East Halton.
On another tree, Thomas & his siblings are shown as coming from East halton, but i couldn't find Thomas' baptism on Freereg either there or Thornton Curtis.
Thomas' parents are shown as Robert c1700 & Ann Cousin c1704 married St Mary's Barton upon Humber 20/11/1729 & Robert's parents are Robert c1600 & Mary Hardy married 1/12/1683 Thornton Curtis. his father is then shown as Robert Wistiby c1640.
Can anyone see any more info on Ancestry than I can see on Mundia? I notice one tree there has 3 sources listed. I would be interested to know what they are.

Many thanks

Lynn, I hope this link works. It should show the marriage of Thomas Westoby and Ellen West, from LincstothePast:

Lyn, one Ancestry tree gives Thomas Westonby's baptism as 12 Jan 1732 at East Halton. I've been through the pages but I'm having problems viewing as some of the pages are so difficult to read. I'll put the link so you can have a go yourself:

You will have to look at different pages until you can find the right year - it isn't easy.

Thanks for that Elizabeth, I am just looking through the images now, but they are difficult to read.

Lynn, the baptism of Bridget Westoby appears on image 29, but I couldn't work out if it was 1763 or 1765. It's on the right-hand page 6th entry down after the title Xenings in 176?. What do you think?

Thanks Elizabeth, I think it is 1765 as the top of the page says 1764. :)

Never heard of Mundia before. I see it is an Ancestry site! So what is the difference?

You don't have to subscribe to see the trees. I don't seem to be able to contact people on there at the moment which is annoying.

Am I right in thinking that if you put a tree on Ancestry it automatically gets transferred onto the Mundia site?

Yes, but I don't think they are actually transferred across; I'm sure Mundia just accesses the same copy of the tree that is on ancestry, because when I updated something on my ancestry tree and looked at it on Mundia immediately afterwards it was already updated.

I had the opposite experience. My cousin's tree had been updated and I saw the changes on Ancestry, but looking at it on Mundia I was disappointed not to see the new material. It might just be that I was already signed on to Mundia and it was showing me what it had in storage on my computer. Do you remember if you opened up the Mundia site and signed in anew in that case, Kite?

I don't remember, Janet, sorry.
