and Ancestry, I'd be grateful if someone could have a look at the will indexed as Robert Copper 26 Jan 1681 Enfield Middlesex in London Wills. I'm sure it's Robert Tapper and that the will was written in 1658. Also - and I think this is clear in the last paragraph to save anyone reading it all - doesn't he say 'my oldest sonne John Tapper' and 'my youngest sonne John Tapper'

I agree that it is Robert TAPPER, Asa.

I agree that is seems to say that!

I have spent longer than five minutes looking for the date though! I couldn't be bothered to read every word, but have looked up and down and up and down it several times, and missed it every time! lol

Lol! Thanks Merry - I'll have a look and see where the date was when I'm online :-)

I wish I could work out which John married which wife but I don't suppose there's any way of sorting that :-)

The date is at the end of the first line :-)

Lol I kept cutting in after the part about him being of sound mind etc! 5th Aug 1658.

He also says "my sonne John the younger" in one place, so he must have had two surviving sons called John.

Thanks both of you - that makes sense of things. The two Johns make wills in 1678 and 1683 but unfortunately don't refer to themselves as the elder and younger :s
