BK6 updated from this thread

I'm looking for Peregrine Hogg in 1841 and 1851 and am also wondering who his first wife was.

He was born in Enfield Middlesex in about 1822 (bap there in April 1822). He's on the 1861 census with his second wife Sarah Maria Harding who he married in 1855 (LMA):

http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=view&r=5538&dbid=8767&iid=MDXRG9_195_196-0277&fn=Peregrine&ln=Hogg&st=d&ssrc=&pid=5386491

He died before the 1871 census.

I don't know whether his occ on that 1861 census would give a clue to why I can't find him before? Unfortunately I'm not sure what the acronym is and don't want to put ideas into anyones heads!!

Any help would be much appreciated. :D

No idea what it is Merry and can't see him under any wildcards in 41 or 51.

Thanks Libby - I can only think his first marriage was outside the UK as surely he must have married the first time by 1837 (when he was 15!)

Still nuffin...but i found this. You probably have it..

By will proved 1880 Peregrine Hogg Purvis of Winchmore Hill left £2,000 to the vicar and churchwardens of St. Paul, Winchmore Hill, the interest to be distributed annually before Christmas in £1-gifts to 50 poor inhabitants of Winchmore Hill, irrespective of creed but with preference to residents in Highfield Row. In 1966 the income was £53. He also left £100 stock, producing £2 15s. in 1899, to nonconformist bodies, £200 stock producing £5 10s. for church purposes, and £200 stock producing £5 10s. for education

I would think 100% for 1851 and probably for 1841.

Hooray! A survivor. All Peregrine's siblings and half siblings died as babies and I was begining to think he lost all his children too.

Thanks Joy! :):):)
