Could one of you lovely people with a world wide sub please have a look at Edith M Lane in the UK Incoming Passengers Lists for me? I think it's probably 1951 ( I have her leaving on FMP!)

Many thanks

I shouldn't have looked at this as I don't have Worldwide, but I can still see the passenger lists!

She got on the Largs Bay from Brisbane to Southampton at Malta:

Miss Edith M Lane of 9 The Promenade, Edgware, Middlesex. Aged 28 occ artist Country of permanent residence England. UK arrival date 31st Jan 1934

I didn't think you needed Worldwide membership for the UK Incoming Passenger Lists, just full UK membership (premium or whatever it's called.)

Ooops! I should have said the New York Passenger Lists. I have her on the UK Incoming Passenger Lists (as Edith Lane, without the middle initial) and got in a bit of a muddle with the two lists. Apologies!

Could someone have a peep at the New York Passengers for me, please. If it's the right lady she was born 1903ish.

Thanks Janet. I think the New York arrival is her as I have her on FMP leaving Southampton on the QE 20th Dec and she gives her address as 11 Colonnade Gdns.

It looks as though she may have retired to Miami. She had a sister in Bermuda so it's not inconceivable. An Edith M Lane died 1967 in Broward, Florida - would it give any other information about her?http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?rank=1&gsfn=edith+m&gsln=lane&=&f23=&f22=&rg_f21__date=1967&rs_f21__date=0&f18=&f26=&f25=&rg_f24__date=1903&rs_f24__date=0&f12=&f13=White&gskw=&prox=1&db=floridadeath&ti=5538&ti.si=0&gl=&gss=rfs&gst=&so=3

There is no image available on Ancestry for Edith's death. The only info on there is what you have for the death, apart from the fact she was female & white and died April 1967, but no exact date.

Now I have the boy with the noose! :( I'll check again later for you.

Thanks for looking Sue. I hadn't realised that there wasn't any more to see. I'm still not convinced it is her and am not really sure how to prove it one way or the other! She was my grandfather's youngest sister and I'm just trying to tie up some loose ends...

Thanks again

Do you know her date of birth, Sue? There are a few Edith M Lanes on the US Social Security death index b between 1901 and 1905.

I have her as 28 Apr 1903 from her baptism record.

I have no experience searching USA records!
