Walter Church married Rosina and had several children. The problem being that there are 2 Walter Churchs born 1 year apart who married Rosina's. The other problem being that the 2 Walters have 3 occupations, joiner/carpenter, picture framer and pianoforte maker. I'm fairly sure the first 2 occupations belong to the same Walter. The confusion being my Walter's father, John was a carpenter, his brother Thomas was a carpenter on the census and either a carpenter or pianoforte maker on his children's baptism records.

The marriage of one Walter Walter Marriage (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=View&r=5538&dbid=1623&iid=31280_197576-00137&fn=Walter&ln=Church&st=d&ssrc=&pid=3104155) This marriage is not on FreeBMD for Walter but Rosina is on there. I can't find any marriage for the other couple.

1 1881 census 1881 census 1 (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=view&r=5538&dbid=7572&iid=LNDRG11_197_200-0753&fn=Walter&ln=Church&st=d&ssrc=&pid=13997342)

2 1881 census 1881 census 2 (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=view&r=5538&dbid=7572&iid=LNDRG11_305_309-0994&fn=Walter&ln=Church&st=d&ssrc=&pid=14546968)

All the children can be found searching London Baptisms with surname Church, father Walter, mother Rosina.

My Walter's parents are John and Mary Ann nee Greenwood. They married 4/2/1843 at St Matthew Bethnal Green. I can't find them on the 1851 but this is them on the 1861 and 1871 census. John Church 1861 census (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=view&r=5538&dbid=8767&iid=MDXRG9_200_202-0555&fn=John&ln=Church&st=d&ssrc=&pid=8752229) and the 1871 John Church 1871 census (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=view&r=5538&dbid=7619&iid=LNDRG10_492_495-0602&fn=John&ln=Church&st=d&ssrc=&pid=12688610)

Thanks for having a look.

This marriage is not on FreeBMD for Walter but Rosina is on there. I can't find any marriage for the other couple.

It is on FreeBMD correctly for Walter; the page number has been mistranscribed for Rosina. I've just submitted a correction.

The second 1881 census Walter is in the same house as a Charles Church age 31 cabinet maker born Shoreditch who has a wife Harriet 28 born Bedfordshire, and daughter Sarah 8 born Hackney. They are likely to be the couple Charles Williams Church and Harriet West who married 8 Nov 1874 at South Hackney St John of Jerusalem, and Charles's father on the marriage cert is John Church, carpenter.

The Walter on the first 1881 census with wife Rosina Jane and daughter Lilian Rosella is likely to be the one who married in Pancras 26 Feb 1879 to Rose Jane Fletcher. His occupation on the marriage cert is Picture Dealer and his father is William Church deceased.

So the marriage for Walter Church and Rosina Furlong is the one for that couple who are with Charles and Harriet in 1881.

I was with you until you said Rosina Fletcher. Who is she?

The marriage on ancestry is Rosina Furlong.

I've been off doing a spreadsheet since I posted this but I had decided that I think the pianoforte maker is my Walter.

Sorry, I meant Furlong! Will correct it so it makes sense! I was in a hurry to get off the computer and go and do some shopping. What I meant to say was, the Walter Church / Rosina Furlong couple are the ones who are with Charles and Harriet, and Walter and Charles's father was John.
