Help reading mother's maiden name please

Can anyone make out this Margaret McFarlane's maiden name please?

Could it be Alice? Not a maiden I know but that's what it looks like to me.

Thanks Wendy, before I found the record I thought I knew her maiden name but, it isn't the same although I think the first letter may be a "S" and there is an "i" in there. Still not sure though!

Could it be Saice? Agree with Wendy that the last three letters look like ice.

Could it be Sim or Sime? If you contact Scotland's People and ask them what it says they might be able to tell you or give you a better copy.

Sime could be correct, relooking at the image, if I look at name, the "me" looks the same as what does look alot like "ice" at the end of the surname.

If you give us her husband's name, child's name and dates etc we could have a look for a marriage?

Thanks for the offer but, after posting previous message, I did just that and voila! Marriage found - McFarland/Sim.
