"William's gravestone in Wallakirk Cemetery, Haugh of Glass, Scotland states that he was a farmer in Dunmeath (his home). It also states his age at death as 52 which would make his birth in either 1782 or 1783. A copy of a school worksheet attributed to him dated 1799 which would make him about 16 at the time."
