Janet, thanks for the link. I had seen that before and wondered about it.

The dates are too late for that Samuel to be Elizabeth's father as she was born in 1796. I did wonder if perhaps she had a brother called Samuel, but I haven't found any other children for Samuel and his wife Mary around the 1790s. I'll have another look and see what I can find.
