My information on my ancestor Anna Margareta Ruhl comes from a book on the Alt family. The author is now deceased. There are copies of original documents of other records, but the information on the marriage just says Johannes Chritoph Alt married 20/11/1817 at Nieder Moos, Germany to Anna Margareta Ruhl. I am thinking I should purchase this certificate and I am wondering what the process is please?

No certificate that early, surely?

Yes of course OC, it would only be information from a marriage register wouldn't it. I'm really hoping that there would be more information, like father's names or place of residence. So what I need to look for is the Evangelical church records. I wonder if they have been transcribed by Fam Search .. have to look. Thanks.

I've just purchased a book online called - "Map Guide to German Parish Registers - Hessen" which includes Nieder-Moos and Bannerod. It gives the Fam Search film Nos. I had looked at the Online Catalogue this morning and even Fulda wasn't listed, so it will be very interesting to see what is in the book. Cost Book $34 + Post & Handling $22 from the States.

My German ancestors (1850s) are on Familysearch. They were RC.

I can see German Alt records on there too UJ but not mine. There is also a film for Nieder Moos, but I cannot see it indexed. I hope the Hessen book on parish records, that I have ordered, may help.

Might be worth e-mailing these people to see if they can advise you:

You could order the microfilms at your local LDS centre:

Mary if they aren't on the index, would they be on the film?

It doesn't look as though they've indexed Nieder Moos yet, as far as I can see.

Thank you, then I will order in the film after I return from OS. Sometimes it takes months to get one out from Utah.

It looks as though you need Film 1201818 (Heiraten 1808-1847).
