I apologise in advance as this is a bit long winded.....:o

Jane Webster b 1804ish Bethnal Green area was married to Joshua Webster, a hairdresser. His father and some of his uncles and brothers were also hairdressers in the East London area.

By 1871 Jane is a widow and I have found a possible in 1871 http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=view&r=5538&dbid=7619&iid=LNDRG10_591_594-0298&fn=Jane&ln=Webster&st=d&ssrc=&pid=5244446
a visitor with Emma Cowles. RG10; Piece: 592; Folio: 97; Page: 43
The surname is transcribed as Cowles on Ancestry but on FMP as Combe so would like an opinion on that too!

I have been hunting for some connection between Emma and Jane but to little avail. In fact I can't find Emma or her children anywhere else before 1871.

Whilst searching though I found a marriage in 1866 between Robert Thomas Cowles and Sarah Ann Webster. Sarah's father was James a deceased hairdresser! But her residence was Attleburgh in Norfolk. http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=View&r=5538&dbid=1623&iid=31280_195104-00384&fn=Sarah+Ann&ln=Webster&st=d&ssrc=&pid=4894728
Again I can't them in 1861 or 1871 although there is a death of a Robert Cowles, aged 24 in Wayland, Norfolk reg district in 1867.

Joshua Webster (husband of James did have a brother James b 1806 Shoreditch) but I have no trace of him after his baptism.

So can anyone find a connection between Emma Cowles, Robert Cowles, Sarah Ann Webster and most importantly Jane Webster?

Or am I clutching at straws again?

I think it says Cowles or maybe Cowler on the 1841 but it's such a scrawl it's hard to be sure. But the "b" in Webster doesn't look like the letter in the middle of Emma's surname so I don't think it's Combe.

That's what I thought too Kite.

I've just found James Webster, hairdresser in Attleburgh in 1851. Born in Norfolk, booo!! Sarah is with him.

But it's all such a coincidence that I'm going to keep looking....
