View Full Version : I think the new familysearch is wrong

The new familysearch says that Mary Hannah, Emma and Christian Grose were baptised at St Ives Cornwall on 22 December 1858.

That is fine until I look at the actual registers also on familysearch and the entries are not there. I've also checked 1857 and 1859 just in case the year was wrong but still nothing.

Their sister Elizabeth is baptised 15 April 1860 but it's not there either.

However the other baptisms for parents Michael and Elizabeth in Ludgvan and Lelant are there.

It's all very strange.

I may have solved the problem. I think the registers that have been indexed are wesleyan methodist ones and the ones available for view are different registers.

Try http://www.cornwall-opc.org/Par_new/h_k/ives_st.php to be certain.

Thanks Joy.

I did find that myself, after I posted the above. I never look at the non-conformist baptisms as I didn't think my family were but it just goes to show you need to keep an open mind.
