View Full Version : Electoral Roll Help - Albert Daltrey
Can anyone help me please with a look up on electoral rolls for Albert Daltrey, seems like Bethnal Green area, middle initial W. He and my Nan married in 1948 and I would like to know where they lived please. I don't have the marriage cert as it's a second marriage I have never as yet gone into.
My Nan was Beatrice May, previously Sheldrick nee Stevenson.
MTIA:)
All the Beatrice Daltreys on the e rolls have a different middle initial. I looked for her death to see if they had perhaps moved out of Bethnal Green, but I couldn't find it. Do you know where she died?
Hi Merry, she only died 5 years back, Albert died around 1964/5. Her middle initial was M for May.
I'm only interested as my mother was evacuated in the war and says she came back to find her mother with Albert and his 5 children and I am wondering when this may have been?
I'm wondering also if they were living together before they married, the "story" doesn't make much sense date wise to me now.. Hadn't really thought of it much before.
They eventually settled in Dagenham, but again not sure when not ahving the marriage in 1948 isn't helping. Mother said they lived in a place near Victoria Park, but no idea what year.
I've found her with her first husband! (1936 - 81 Lewin Road, Streatham)
ooh, that's brilliant!! They married in 1931. She married him at a register office, my Aunt was on the way!
Here's Albert's death. The M is a mistranscription - the GRO index has W

Ty. I know I was around 4 when he died. In 1911 he is 3 with parents at Globe Rd., Bethnal Green.
This is the best fit for his birth (I realise this isn't what you wanted! lol But it may same looking something up twice if I post here!)

My Mothers recollections of being evacuated are fairly bad and I suppose as we are now estranged I am trying to piece this together to get a clearer picture, she was born in 1938 and I can't quite grasp the timeline in all this yet.

Their marriage was in Ilford which at that time was in Essex so assuming that they were living there too they wouldn't appear on the London Elecoral Rolls.
There is a Beatrice Sheldrick living at 72 Victoria Park Rd, Bethnal Green in 1945 though.
ooh Sue that's fab. Kind of proves what my Mother said.
Sue is Albert living there as well by any chance?

No she's on her own I think.
My parents had their first home very near there at that time and they were/are large houses split into flats so the other names at no72 are - possibly living people deleted. And it's in Hackney not Bethnal Green as I said earlier! Sorry...
Thanks Sue. My geography is still dreadful so I wouldn't have realised lol Gosh I am going to have to call Ancestry next week when I have some money to ask them to upgrade my membership freebie.

Sue, am I right in thinking those names you posted up in post #16 are from the 1945 electoral register? In which case we will need to delete them unless you are sure they're no longer living.

Oops! Sorry, I didn't think! Yes from 1945. If the post has gone before you've noted the names Di let me know and I'll pm you!
Albert's first wife was Sarah Solomons, m 1929. They are together up to 1938 in Bethnal Green. There are a load more Albert D listings for BG after the war, but I've just looked a load of times for the first one (up and down six columns of names) and I still can't see him! Going to try the next one now!!
Merry and Sue thanks for helping. Merry did you see my post on William Greens death?
Not yet!
The Albert I saw after 1945 doesn't have a middle name and seems to have a different wife, so he may be a red herring.
