Just wondered if SKS could have a look at these for me
Augustus Angell Roake, b c1829 Berkshire, can't find him in 1861, just wondered if anyone has better eyes than me.
Also I have his bap as 14 June 1829, but haven't noted my source for this and can't find it again, can someone have a look for me, please.
Thanks
Sue
Typical, found him in 61, just after posting!
Still missing the bap though

Where is he likely to be in 1861, do you know, Sue? Only quite a lot of the 1861 is missing so if we know where he should be, we can check if that place is one of the missing ones.

Sorry Kate, just edited post to say I found it!

It doesn't answer your question, but have you seen this notice in the London Gazette, Sue? http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/22171/pages/3688/page.pdf (bottom from one on the left)
I don't know if you are going back with the Roakes etc, but if you are I expect you have the marriage of JW Roake to Mary Stubbs in 1819 as it's on the IGI. I just saw a newspaper notice (Jackson's Oxford Journal, Saturday, December 4, 1819; Issue 3476) which says Mary was the eldect dau of Joseph Stubbs of Maidenhead.

His will is listed on Ancestry - 1866, I think. (I don't have a sub, but it came up by googling).

Someone is asking about Roakes here:
http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/th/read/ENG-HAMPSHIRE-KINGSCLERE/2004-03/1078155988
They think that James White Roake had a brother Jacob. This is Jacob's will:

Thanks so much again for your input,
Merry, I had assumed I'd got it from Family search, but just couldn't find it last night, with your reassurance I'll have another hunt tonight, and thanks for the additional info re JWR and Mary Stubbs.
Elizabeth, Thanks for the info re the wills, the ones I've accessed on Ancestry have been so interesting. And someone else looking for the same Roake family!!!! shame there isn't a flood of replies!
Muggins, That info from the London Gazette is good, thanks.
Sue

I've found a Jacob Roake's will on Ancestry, he left a good sum £3164 in 1896, but died in a Lunatic Assylum! but this is JW Roake's son not brother. Off for another look!

Can anyone see James White Roake in 1841? He was married to Mary (both born 1790s) by then and should be living in Berkshire, probably Newbury.
Should have son Jacob and daughter Harriet with them, both aged under 10.
