BK6 updated from this thread

I am trying to find the maiden name of Mrs Ellen Walford. I had fondly thought Ellen's maiden name might be Rogers as both her sons and all her male grandsons have this as a middle name, but that doesn't seem to be right, if you read on......

Ellen probably married shortly before 1837 (I'd hoped to find it on the LMA records) and her husband was Alfred George Walford. They had two sons together and then Alfred died in Lingford Surrey aged 28 in 1840.

In 1841 Ellen, aged 20, is with her sons in St Marylebone. I can't find them in 1851, but in 1861 Ellen and her sons are living with two of Ellen's sisters. One of these sisters is unmarried, so it would be nice to think I could just do a few searches on this sister's surname and maybe find all three baptisms to confirm it's the right family, BUT.......what is the sister's surname??

I don't know! lol

Here is the 1861 image:

I feel as if this should be dead easy, but I'm obviously going about it the wrong way as I'm going round in circles!

They've just appeared in 1851:

This time Mary French (if it's the same Mary French) is 16 years younger and is now unmarried not a widow! lol)

Cripes, on the 1851 census the head of house is Arthur de Freyne, an Irish peer aged 60. I googled him, and:

Arthur French, 1st Baron de Freyne and de Freyne (1786 – 29 September 1856)

So, is Mary French his wife/unmarried partner?
