My mum searched for over a month but did not get anything. My grandfather Wille Eccleston (born as) was stationed at Lossiemouth before and during the 2nd world war. We are looking for info on this. Where do I begin ?

A copy of his service record can be purchased from the MoD (ministry of defence) by his next of kin and will cost you £30 (I think)

See here for where to apply.

You will have to sign a next of kin declaration and supply his death cert and any relevant info that will help them find his record. (dob and sevice number of you know it). It can take months to arrive. The last one I applied for took over a year!

If he or his widow is still living then the record is free.

It also takes a long time. It took 10 months to get my father in laws.

There is NOTHING online just in case you were hoping.
