I am trying to identify the parents of Thomas Blundun birth reg 1848 St Pancras.
He is on the 1871 census at St Augustines College Canterbury,
Class: RG10; Piece: 967; Folio: 57; Page: 8; GSU roll: 827250

I am pretty sure that he is not the one b 1849 Kingsclere on the 1861 census, that one I think was registered Kingsclere March q 1849 as Blunden.

There is one Blundun marriage in London about the right time, and that is John Blundun and Anne Blandford in Greenwich 1837, I have found some children baptised for them, but I have not found them on any census to see if Thomas belongs to them.

There is an adult baptism 6 July 1863 at St Peter West Dulwich, son of Sarah Blundun. My feeling is that this is the one I want as he was baptised by (George W) Hubert, and Hubert from the parsonage Vauxhall provided testimonials for "my" Thomas Blundun when he went off to be a missionary in Hawaii.
Thomas married Emily Eliza Brown and is found with her on later census when they returned from Hawaii.
Can anyone find him in 1851 and 1861?
I am wondering if this might be him in 1861, as Thomas Blunden, nephew with the Pritchard family.
Class: RG9; Piece: 355; Folio: 78; Page: 5; GSU roll: 542621.

The Pritchards' marriage:
19 Nov 1826 William Pritchard / Eliza Ann Blundun, Westminster St Anne Soho.

They haven't got Thomas Blunden with them in 1851 but they do have a nephew Thomas Smith age 2, born Middlesex Somerstown. (Somers Town is in St Pancras.) Also a daughter called Sarah age 19, also born Middlesex Somerstown.
HO107/1572 Folio 77 Page 5

And they are in Lambeth on that census, so if Thomas was born in Pancras but moved to Lambeth as a baby, it would explain the birthplace being given as Lambeth in 1861.

Sorry, wasn't thinking too clearly that early in the morning - William and Eliza got married well before their daughter Sarah was born, so she wouldn't be a Blundun; we need to see if Eliza had a sister called Sarah. Quite likely if she gave a daughter that name.

Baptism for Eliza Anne Blunden on FamilySearch - born 29 Dec 1805, baptised 19 Jan 1806 Putney, parents William and Anne. Looking at the image on ancestry, William's occupation is gardener. Then ancestry has a baptism for a Sarah Blundon 30 Dec 1810 at St Paul Deptford, parents William and Ann of New Row, occupation Labourer.

There is a burial on ancestry for Sarah Blunden 16 Sep 1849 at St Mary Lambeth, age 37, abode 19 Wickham Street, which may or may not be the same Sarah. I don't suppose you want to fork out for the death cert to check!

If Thomas Smith is Thomas Blundun, I don't suppose there is much chance of finding out which Mr Smith was his father, though.

Ah, just went back to check the Pritchards' address in 1851 and it is 43 Wickham Street, so I should think it's likely to be the right Sarah. I can't find 19 Wickham Street in 1851 but the house numbers near it are Wickham or Leyland Street in piece 1572 folios 162-166. A few Smiths at various numbers!

There's no 19 Wickham St in the 1851 census. In Lambeth, the smallest number is 30. (according to FMP)

Ah, I see what you mean now. Every other number but 19! lol

Thanks, that confirms my suspicions. Thomas' records have his birth as Somerstown, so that will be him. I don't have my notes to hand, but I suspect that the John marriage I found is a brother of Sarah and Eliza, I seem to remember from the marriage cert that his parents were William and Anne, and William was gardener. I can round out the family quite nicely now.
